This place used to be cool, but paranoid people and thug (black dude) at door made it feel like I was at the local drug dealers "crib". Everything tastes the same, and the people that work there must have sprained thumbs for their recommendation because they make medical marijuana look like a joke. I am seriously considering quitting smoking just because seeing such blatant abuse of a law for people in pain literally used as a front for thug atmosphere drug dealing and urban illegal street distribution. Santa Cruz is worth the drive, brohams and siss's; San Fran is now just a place where drug dealers with fake or chintzy Recommendations fill up to sell on the street. PM me if you feel like I do and want to do something about this, even if a stringent overhaul means no meds for certain people, myself included. I love Mary Jane, and she understands that people need her, not a Curtiss Jackson wannabe with a greed inspired agenda!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quit bashing clubs and throwing out reckless accusations. You don't know what these guys medical conditions are. They are always very helpful, professional, and knowledgeable when I visit. Any club in the tenderloin, or S.F. for that matter is going to be a little diverse. There are plenty of co-op's in the bay area, go some where else if the "thug (black dude)" scares you.

First off let me say that S.F. clubs are among the best in this state.I've always been satisfied when I go there. I understand that a certain degree of order must be maintained, Dont be so discouraged, the dude may have been having a rough day? However, I'm so with you on the "gangta"-"thug" thing,,,, it gives Cannabis a bad rep. & those who are practicing that type of behavior ruin it for us patients...However, we the people should notify the dispensary "boss" of any staff misconduct.when it happens if it happens, It is bad enough with the feds & all, without some horses-A#$ making patients feel uncomfortable & the thug thing really gets under my skin too.  If what you say is true, you should notify whoever runs the club if this guy is being anything other than Professional! :mad2:  lets not allow anyone to hinder our efforts & rights to safe & quality meds. peace:hippie:

Honestly folks, just because a person has deep brown skin and isn't smiling doesnt make him a thug. Same goes for doorags, gold teeth, saggin' pants, whatever. Committing crimes is what make you a thug.
Don't judge a book by its cover. Just makes you look ignorant.

I visited Grass Roots once and it was ok. I think I came on a dry day cause there wasn't much in the way of top shelf meds. I got some pretty decent organic diesel for $45 an eighth. That made me happy. The guy at the counter was really nice and took a few minutes to chat with me. The guy at the door was nice to me to, probably because I showed him respect, asked how his day was going.

Seriously please give folks a chance before you go calling them thugs and dissing the entire establishment.

As for dissing SF clubs, well, if you are gonna talk like that then stay the hell out of our city.

I just went in today. Normally this is my regular club but recently some other patients I know harvest some plants so I haven't been to the dispensary in a few weeks. First of all, the "black dude" who answered the door, was nothing but nice (like every employee I have dealt with at GR) but didn't put off a thugish vibe at all (and, I'm pretty quick to feel that someone is be a thug in that sense so thats a serious statement...for example I did get that impression from a employee of  a different club close by...). As I said their whole staff is nice and from the minute the open the door till they escort me out I feel like I'm getting good service by people who care. This is still one of the best in SF as far as I'm concerned.

Im glad I dont live in SF. Im from Southern cali. Cause I sure wouldent want to go to a dispens with a thug looking black guy at the door, It would make me feel unconfortable, and makes it seem like Im at my drug dealers house,
If I want to buy some from a black guy I'll go on the streets and look for him in the ghetto... or the corner of the street sniffing some Crack.... >>

I was there today, for the first time in some time.
I was treated well by all concerned.  They let me in with my recommendation and state ID alone (I can't afford $105 for a state card any more than I can afford the standard prices to be found at the clubs...this illness took my income many years ago...), I splurged on a $20 bag recommended by the very nice counter guy which got me a gram and a half of some spankin' "Grape Ape".  The atmosphere was as always pleasant.  Their prices are among the least aggressive in the city for the excelent quality and selection.  I've never had anything but good from Grass Roots.

Around the corner, on the other hand...

The problem of having dispensary service staff who have a less than adequate level of service ethic and training is a real one.  I have faced it many times myself, particularly at the larger operations.

To be fair, a kind of paranoia naturally settles upon the heart of the most well-meaning of club owner faced with the twin dangers of the DEA and armed robbers.  They have predictably turned to unsavory characters (of every skin tone) to protect them from the other unsavory characters, and regrettably, stationed them at the door.  

But it bears saying that the clubs do inflict inappropriate and hurtful indignities upon the patient-customers, an unacceptable level, and that the problem is fairly widespread in San Francisco. This is, however, among the lesser failings of the   supply system that has volunteered itself to fulfill the mandate of the 1996 Compassionate Use Act in Northern California.

But the root of the problem is our common enemy: the federal laws against our precious medicine. Absent them and the clubs turn into Rite Aid.  *shiver runs down my spine*  Forget I said that.

Grass Roots is an exception to the rule.  Never met a rude guy there.  Always really sensitive service. First rate among the current crop of clubs if you ask me.

You guys are so quick to defend situations you have no idea about, like the DEA's secret crackdown on Medical Marijuana because morons are exploiting a medical loophole and converting it to a drug dealing resource. You don't think that they are catching people with recommendations selling weed or growing it to sell it on the street? i take back that thread about the diesel for 25 gram... that must have been butt hash cuz it did not medicate i smoked a quater gram and felt lik i took one puff of a very small roach...on the other hand i met no thug maybe your a little paranoid or alot thugs do anything for money and anyone workin at a compassion center is helping people for money not "doing anything for money" in order for someone to be labeled thug they have to do thug things tell me what thug thing this person was doing to you or in front of you???? and if you so scared about loopholes why don't you buy some off that thug at the door for a bj then tell the manger im sure hell get fired...that way the clubs stay open you don't have to see a thug and we protect our rights... ya ya ya ya ya ya

i juss went there yesterday and i had been there once before. Theyre bud is not always the best in the city but it is still good and i dont believe they have 8ths over 50. The staff is nice and knowledgeable which is what i find important in a cannibus club. I walked out with a $45 8th .of Af-Wreck and been loving it ever since... i do recommend checkin it out

Who are YOU to decide who "real" patients are?  I thought that was up to the doctors, but apparently you're a better judge of our medical conditions.

I have been to many clubs and this one is run by some of the nicest people! And they have reasonable prices. They always treat me nice!

Yup, I think Grass-Roots rocks! I didnt sense any "thug" element per-se, although I stand by what I said about those who do & actively pursue a true-thug-lifestyle,{for the record, you dont have to be black to act like a thug.} it just isnt cool when M.Mj. is percieved as part of a thug image,  it needs to be seen by law-enforcement as it was intended, per- prop.215, & I for one do all I can to help maintain that image, so the "law" will see that we are not the criminals,they make us out to be.. just because we use M.Mj. to medicate ourselves.& I hope the day will come when our herb is avail. via schedule 4 "over the counter meds" then I can pick up my aspirin, tums, & some O.G.Kush please" I know, I know, but its a Day I hope I live to see when our herb is as thought of, in the way nature intended. After all, it was "legal" for thousands of years before it became "illegal"........:cool2: :juggle:

I really liked the place, nice selection. Security guard was very freindly and he was actually talking to a police officer walking his dog when i showed him my card. nothin but smiles from everyone. I'd reccomend this place
